Do you still consider the song Mury by Jacek Kaczmarski a banger? And is it still a song every Polish person knows?
Is it still a song you listen to? Is it even played on the radio or sung in schools? And do you see it more as an oldie your parents or even grandparents like or do you think of another current politival issue?
Dzięki!
Thank you for all your nice and very informative answers. This is by far my nicest Reddit moment. I really appreciate it because though living close to the wrong Frankfurt for a quick trip over the border, I just need to learn more about our eastern neighbors. I've also been constantly told to visit Krakow for almost 20 years, something I am definitely going to do rather soon
I am looking forward to your answers
Why does a random German guy ask this?
I recently thought a four-day university field trip and workshop in December:
We, German history students from Mainz met a group of Polish students studying German at the University of Krakow. Our topic was French-German-Polish relations (which I think was a little prophetic since thanks to Mr Putin I feel more important for each other than ever)
A buddy and I gave a (rather bad) presentation on Solidarmość. We planned to play the song Mury because our sources told us that it was really popular and was used by the movement. We had to play the whole song because all the Polish students were singing and really put their hearts into it as if singing their national anthem.
I like the chance of pace, the optimism to change the world which is then mercilessly crushed into hopelessness.
