Mildly Underwhelming Edge

Its only a small thing as itll require another edge in the future.. but the factory edge for me is a little underwhelming given other knives I have bought. It is still plenty sharp enough to get work for a while, dont get me wrong; it wouldnt hurt to be a little more sharp. It just doesn't glide like others do. I am not asking absolute perfection but given the build quality of the rest of the knife and price, it would honestly expect better. Is it just me or have others had similar thoughts?

Warning: This may be blasphemous to a portion of the community.

For a lot of my knife sharpening journey, I strived for the absolute pinnacle of mirror edges without consideration for other edge types. Recently, I decided to switch to a simple 600 grit, ceramic and strop. So much less faff and the edge still doesnt look horrendous. Its really made me question why I was wasting my life, using lapping films etc to attempt to see my souls reflection. Its a great edge; yes, it doesn't glide through material in the same way but for the hours less time I now average sharpening, it is totally worth it.

Certainly in the case of this Shiro, the less time spent worrying about potentially fucking up or not getting an edge "perfect", the better.

I do find sharpening is a great pastime but not having the constant desire to seek mirror perfection has allowed me to appreciate the craft more and the ritualistic aspect of it despite doing it less.

Am I weird or is this valid?

EDIT: Seems to be sorted.. it is still pretty tight but it is staying centred. I took the pivot apart and loosened the body screw then put the pivot back together then tightened the body screw and it is seeming to stay where it is. I'll see if it changes but I'll leave it to break in some more before I do anything drastic.

This was delivered today brand new from DLT.. I am 5000 miles away from DLT and 3500 miles from the US. Just noticed how terrible the centering is aka scraping the show scale. Do I bother sending this back or is this still fixable? I have never had a knife be this terribly centered out the box. Being my first CRK, it is not leaving a good impression so far.

5000 miles in two days to its new home in the UK. The break in period will definitely take some time but that is fine by me. It is by far the tightest knife, out the box, in my collection. I know this will never be fidgety knife but still far and away tightest. Truly built like a tank. Out of curiosity, how long did yours take to fully break in?.

I have finally had money at the right time. It only took nearly 18 months of terrible luck, I have now been able to snag a Zaan 🥵. I didn't realise there was only ever one that DLT stocked at a time. I thought there was going to be at least 2 or 3. I was wrong so I am definitely glad I jumped at it 🤣. Sorry to those that missed out. I wasnt going to lose an opportunity yet again lol.
