So, for context: all throughout high school, I was a popular but shy kid. I have never had a girlfriend, and I am horrible with texting and chatting online. Everyone knew who I was because it was a small town.
I’m 19M, and she is 17F; she turns 18 in July. Let’s call her Liv. Liv will be a senior next year, and I just finished my first year of university. All throughout high school, we were friends, but we were never super close. We did theater, show choir, and were even part of the same career tech program and the extracurriculars connected to it.
Liv was always known as the “weird girl,” but she is also one of the most genuine people I have ever met. A lot of people told me not to talk to her, and I think that ended up scaring me away. I always had a crush on Liv, but I never said anything, partly because of the age difference and partly because of social pressure.
Right now, we are only friends on Instagram, no other contact. I have seen her since I graduated, and we have chatted a little online. I also went to some of the show choir and theater performances, but overall, I need help figuring out what to do next. I still have friends who are in high school, and I don’t want to cause a huge thing. I just need advice on how to handle this situation.
