Advice for 22 day Trip to Dominican Republic

Hey I’m going on a trip alone to the DR for the first time from June/July For about 3 weeks. Any tips or tricks going there. I’m learning a little spanish by speaking it daily with a few coworkers. I’m a Californian so ya hablo un poco de espanol.

I was thinking of staying 7 days in Sosua 7 days in Santo Domingo and 8 days in Punta Cana. Tell me if that’s a bit much movement based on the local way of doing things

I’ll already have my ticket to land in Punta Cana. I haven’t reserved my air bnb or hotel yet. I was waiting to see

I’ll be going to sosua from there on the Punta Cana express. I know i should have flown directly into Sosua but I wasn’t exactly aware of the size of the island. I’m used to Oahu and Maui so 3-5hrs to cross an island is insane to me. I will travel as light as possible in order to make moving around the island easier.

-I wanted to know what’s good spots for golfing, playing basketball/gym, nightlife, roller skating rinks, historic sights and buildings, museums, and healthy food.

-Anything to know about the local foods and customs that I may need to know so I’m not disrespecting the locals or potentially poisoning myself. (I know not to drink the tap water)

-Transportation and how it works on the island.

- money and the most common way of commerce on the island.

-Clothes and Footwear recommendations.

I heard it can be dangerous with thefts and chain snatching but I’ve spent lots of time (hundreds of visits) in Mexico and never had an issues so I’m guessing the DR is similar. Idk if the DR is more dangerous than Tijuana, Rosarito, or Cancun. I wore a little 5mm rose gold chain and had no issues.

Lace me up. Any info would be appreciated.
