What advice or harsh truths should a Gen Z professional know to stay in a company long-term?
Hi, I’m 24F. Gen Z. For context, I’m very quiet at work. I’m more of an active listener, I avoid gossip, and I don’t really belong to any particular group. In my previous job, I stayed for a year. Luckily, I was able to secure a new job before my rendering period ended.
I resigned because I felt like I was no longer growing. I was becoming too comfortable to the point where I stopped caring, and I hated that feeling. The job itself was actually good, even though the workload was heavy. However, salaries were often delayed, and the treatment of employees was really bad. There were also some unethical things happening that I’d rather not disclose for privacy reasons. 😅
Why am I posting this…?
I’m looking for advice for myself (and for fellow Gen Zs) who genuinely want to stay in a job long-term. I want to remain in my second job for as long as possible because I plan to work abroad someday. I’m hoping to gain enough experience so that this will be my last job before I move to another country. I’ve heard some negative things about this company, but I really don’t want to stress myself over them.
Do you have any advice or harsh truths that I need to hear?
I’d love to hear about your work experiences and what you do to survive in the workplace. I really want this job to work out no matter what happens. I don’t want to be too emotionally affected by everything anymore. What are the things I need to improve, learn, and unlearn? I also want to improve my social skills.
Please help. 🥹
