I’m currently starting my own freelance Virtual Assistant business. I already have experience working in both private office environments and corporate settings, and I’ve reached a point where I want to explore working for myself and learn what building a business independently actually looks like.

One aspect I’ve found particularly challenging is gaining clientele. It can feel quite overwhelming trying to figure out where to start, how to advertise effectively, and how other freelancers initially found their first clients. There’s a lot of general advice online, but it’s sometimes difficult to know what genuinely works in practice.

I’m very open to hearing any advice, insights, or personal experiences from anyone who has worked as a freelance VA or in freelance services more generally. Whether it’s about advertising, outreach, networking, pricing, client retention, mistakes to avoid, or how you built momentum early on, I’d really appreciate hearing about it.
