HI This is my first reddit post and Im hoping you might be able to advise me on upgrading my filter. There is so much info out there and its getting overwhelming trying to find out what would suit my tank.
I have a decent sized tank (cant recall the specifics) that house four goldfish - Fantail, Shubunkin and common. I have quite a lot of plants that are doing well in the back and for this I need to keep the water line almost half way down the tank.
I want to upgrade one of my filters and I am wondering, does anybody know of a good filter, preferable hang on back that would reach down to the water level in the picture? or is this simply not feasible with hang on back? Does the water line always need to be at the top of the tank for these to work?
I know some of them have extendable water inlets but its hard to tell if it would still run in this situation.
Im looking for an easier maintenance experience here if possible where I dont need to remove the filter from the water entirely to clean out.
(I know its a bit dirty looking, my tank is about to be cleaned)
Any advise welcome.
