Apartment move out debt

When I moved out of an apartment back in 2024 January, they charged me a $360ish bill for carpet damage. I ignored it, and it got sent to a debt collection law firm. The balance is now $430ish. So it’s been 2.5 years or so.

If I let it be, will they eventually give up trying to collect? I did not communicate with them at all since.

Since it’s not a large amount, would they even bother trying to sue me? Any advice would be appreciated
