Boyfriend and I have been together for 1 year continuously, but dating two more times before that. So off and on for 4 years. He just moved into my house in April of this year. So my parents live 10 mins away, we see them quite often. His live 2 hours away. He always makes the comment when we go see his parents that “this is why your family doesn’t want to travel with you”. We just did a week long cruise with them and my brothers, which required driving 6-7 hours to the port. I have really bad chronic pain from some past surgeries, because of the pain and surgeries I have anxiety and depression but have been seeing a psychiatrist, therapist, pain doctor etc. I also completed one year of treatment for an eating disorder. Normally my boyfriend will go visit his family for holidays, he has been inviting me recently with the last time being Christmas, we always drive there and back in the same day. My boyfriend seems to be getting mad at me for wanting to stop at some point for a snack, coffee, bathroom. During Christmas he flipped out when I asked 30 mins before his parents house to stop at a gas station for bathroom and I got a yogurt and granola bar. We both hadn’t eaten anything all day, I was hungry but also needed to pee. Well he was livid and immediately ignored me the whole time we were at his parents house and it was very awkward. His parents even noticed and said something, and I said honestly he is mad I needed to stop at a gas station. Well we are driving to his parents house for Mother’s Day and I ask to stop to get a coffee, yes I should have made one at home before but I even asked him last night “will it be ok if we stop so I can use the bathroom?” He was like sure. Now he is livid at me and made the comment “I see why your family doesn’t want to travel with you” which I have told him before is very hurtful. And said that again and he doesn’t care. I think he is being crazy unreasonable, that we can’t stop one time to use the bathroom, get a drink and snack. AITA??
