Hey everyone,

I’m currently building a new PC and I’m trying to decide what kind of UPS to get.

My setup will be:

* RTX 5070

* Ryzen CPU (still deciding between 7800X3D / newer X3D)

* PSU: Corsair RM850x SHIFT (850W, 80+ Gold, active PFC)

The issue is that in my country, most available UPS options are line-interactive units with simulated sine wave (brands like Forza, Smartbitt, Orbitec). True pure sine wave / online UPS units are much harder to find and more expensive.

I’ve read that modern PSUs with active PFC (like mine) can sometimes have issues with simulated sine wave UPS systems — things like:

* random shutdowns when switching to battery

* instability under load

* weird noises

But I’ve also seen people say they’ve used simulated sine wave UPS units for years without problems.

So I wanted to ask:

**Has anyone here actually had real issues using a simulated sine wave UPS with a modern gaming PC?**

**And more specifically, does anyone here use a Corsair RM850x SHIFT (or similar RMx series PSU) with a simulated sine wave UPS? What has your experience been like?**

Is it stable during power outages? Any shutdowns or strange behavior?

Or would you recommend just going straight for a pure sine wave UPS for peace of mind?

Thanks in advance 🙌
