I’ve been trying to make a conscious effort to be nicer to men because most of the time I would act like they don’t exist and I feel bad

Lately whether I am at work or the grocery store I will look at a guy who is walking towards me and see if he is making eye contact and if he is I smile at him

The man is making eye contact and staring but keeping a serious face. Why don’t they smile back? Are they creeped out? Should I stop doing it? Or should I keep doing it just because it’s the friendly thing to do?
