Hi all, I just wanted to share some positive feelings that I feel like most outside of the TTC community wouldn’t understand. Sorry in advance if this post is long and ramble-y.
I went off of BC in September/October of last year with intentions of figuring out my cycle before seriously starting to try. I had withdrawal bleeding, and then one more “period” right after I got off, which I felt was a good sign, but from then on, I was only spotting around the time my period was supposed to be.
We recently started seriously TTC at the beginning of March, and I had still not gotten my period back. I have been feeling super down about it. My doc had me go get an ultrasound which showed polycystic ovaries. She said I probably haven’t been ovulating, maybe have PCOS, and referred me to an OB. The doom and gloom in me has just been super negative about my chances of conceiving. Of course, I can’t get an OB appointment until late July. I was able to get in with a midwifery clinic near me who also do preconception consultations, so we will see where that takes me.
While I wait on the appointments, I’ve been reading a lot of books about supplements to support fertility/cycles and started taking a regimen of vitamins every day when we started TTC. Idk if it was the vitamins, my body regulating, or if I do have PCOS and I just randomly was able to ovulate so shortly after my ultrasound, but I got my period yesterday!
I was going to talk with the midwife and then OB about letrozole or something, but I may wait a bit to see if my cycle is actually starting to level out. I know this is my first period since coming off birth control and it’s possible that I could go back to not getting them, but I’m hopeful that it is coming back and I can start tracking successfully. Fingers crossed!!
TL;DR I haven’t gotten my period since October/November of last year, but finally got it after starting to take lots of supplements!
