I suspect this will come as no surprise to many of you, but thought it might be helpful to warn others about my recent experience with Qantas Hotels.
I had a trip to Europe booked recently, in which both hotel and flight was booked through Qantas. There was a leg of the trip affected by the Middle East conflict, and Qantas cancelled the flights and did not offer an alternative. These things happen, and given the context, having them refund my flight was fine, which they did. However, the pre-paid hotel (>4k) has not been refunded, with Qantas Hotels claiming that they are a different and not-liable entity from Qantas. So at this stage, both direct me to the other, and no one will take any responsibility despite a lot of emails and phone calls in both directions.
Before you ask - yes, I had travel insurance. It’s also been denied, though, on the basis that travel was disrupted by war.
I don’t know if anyone else has experience with this (class action, anyone?), but worth being aware of the separation of these entities if you think about booking (I sure won’t again) - and if anyone has suggestions I’m glad to hear them.
