New Or Used

Still looking at Prologues for my spouse. Two questions for the hive mind here.

  1. There's a certified used '24 Elite with 50 miles on the odometer available near me. At what OTD price difference does it make sense to buy used instead of new? For example, if the certified used has an OTD price of $37K OTD, with the OTD price for new being $42K OTD, is saving $5K worth it to buy a two year old car?

  2. Does anyone know how good the Honda certified used EV warranty is? Am I shooting myself in the foot buying a car that's already two years into the warranty period?

I’m thinking of buying a 2026 Prologue Elite. Knowing that Honda has discontinued this car, and having read about the car’s issues, is this a crazy idea?

I’m aiming for an OTD price of <$40K. This includes sales tax of 10.4% which would mean a price of $36K prior to tax/title/reg fees.

Edited to add: Yes, I know how cool EVs are. I drive an F-150 Lightning. This would be to replace my wife’s XC60. She’s test driven the Prologue and really likes it.
