Which Thai GL did you stop watching midway, but after finishing it, realized it was a MASTERPIECE? 🧐
I started The Loyal Pin after finishing GAP: The Series, which was my introduction to Thai GLs. It was only the second Thai GL I watched, and at that time I was still very new to Thai GL media. I guess period dramas weren’t really my type back then. I also didn’t understand the Thai royal system at the beginning of the series because I was unfamiliar with Thai culture. Those royal titles and ranks confused me a lot 🥲.
But I still continued watching because, at that time, there weren’t many GLs released compared to now. I really liked the soft romance trope in The Loyal Pin because, from the series I had seen so far, most main couples felt kind of toxic compared to AninPin 🤧.
One thing I noticed very clearly was how much Becky Armstrong’s acting skills improved from her previous project, GAP: The Series ☺️ She really did a great job playing Princess Anin. And Freen Sarocha — no words for her acting skills seriously 🛐 She literally expressed every emotion even with fewer dialogues.
Even though I liked The Loyal Pin, after around 10 episodes it started to feel stretched to me 😭 Like they were dragging the story too much. I was okay with the sweet and cute moments between Anin and Pin, but at one point it became too sweet for me to handle. It felt like there was nothing except romantic scenes 🤧 I felt like the story itself wasn’t progressing in a very interesting way, so I stopped watching right before the real drama started 😭.
Then, after 6 months, an Instagram reel popped up on my feed about favorite lines from Thai GLs. I opened the comment section, and it was filled with so many iconic dialogues. I don’t remember most of them clearly, but one line caught my attention instantly 😩
“The feelings I have for Khun Pin are like a fabric woven with gold and silver threads ✨...”
I immediately searched for the series again, and that’s when I found out the dialogue was from The Loyal Pin. So I decided to resume watching it again, at least just to see that scene in Episode 12.
I restarted from Episode 11, and oh my God, I loved the way they presented Lanna culture. The scenery was shot so beautifully. And when Aunt Pat found out about them, that’s when the real drama truly began 🥲 Episode 12 became my all-time favorite episode, especially the climax where Anin used the cloth analogy to express her feelings 💖 Becky DESERVED an Oscar for that scene.
I felt so many emotions throughout Episodes 13 and 14. The anguish I felt was insane 🤧 Pin accepting her fate without questioning it and Anin dropping the ring — my reaction was literally, “What the hell am I watching?” 😭😭😭 It was so heartbreaking. Then after Episode 15, I finally recovered from the pain caused by the previous episodes.
And honestly, I loved Episode 16 the most 💖 The way they handled every issue in that single episode didn’t feel rushed at all. Instead, every scene felt meaningful. The way both Anin and Pin fought together for their love was so wholesome. I also have to admit that all the members of the Sawettawarit family were green flags. They accepted Pin surprisingly quickly without dragging the conflict unnecessarily. Episode 16 had such a perfect ending, with AninPin living together with their niece like a complete little family 🫂🤧.
After rewatching the series many times, I always discover something new about Thai culture, royal traditions, food, and many other details. There’s honestly so much to learn from this series 🤧
After all of this, I can proudly say that The Loyal Pin is a masterpiece ✨ I mean, no other Thai GL has felt this perfect to me, even after watching many GLs released until now. The cast, production, directing team, music team — everything was incredible. And having 16 episodes gave the show enough time for proper character development, a balanced pace, and a satisfying ending. I honestly think it’s almost impossible to create another series on the same level as The Loyal Pin in the future. It truly feels like a one-of-a-kind drama 🛐.
I wasn’t even a FreenBecky stan before, but I swear they became my ultimate biases because of The Loyal Pin. I mean, how can everything about them feel so perfect? ✨🤧 Now I completely understand why they are called the OGs.
I still have so much more to say about this series, but I tried to keep this as short as possible 😭 It’s my all-time favorite series. And now I’m waiting for The Air to premiere so impatiently 🤧.
So, which series made you feel like this? Kindly share your thoughts in the comments ☺️
