To not experiment on black men in the modern era.
We only have 9M in cap left, we're still trying to sign Cam, but we get a whopping 76M in cap next year.
Hopkins' last contract was a 5M, 1 year deal, so we technically could, with fat bonus potential on the back end, once our dead cap sheds in 2027.
But is it worth it?
His last 3 years weren't good, but I do like the idea of him and Olave together, and he adds experience to our WR room, and can potentially help Tyson, Lance and Brown develop. Also, with a deep room, we can rest him well enough to keep him productive.
Of course, there's two halves to this question. One being whether we can, and the second being whether we should.
I've been a part of the sub since nearly the beginning. Contributed during the election season, and participated in discussions.
This was truly a place where all sides of the aisle met, with reasonable, thought out dialogue and discussion. We weren't afraid to call out RFK when he went off the rails at times.
Election week, due to long work hours, and two back to back hospitalizations the day before and the day of the election, I wasn't able to vote. To be honest, it was between him and Kamala. Having voted Biden last time, I was leaning Kamala, because endorsing Trump was a step too far for me.
Instantly, I see here that MAGA flooded and tried to take over. Discussions changed, talking points changed, and instead of people discussing the endorsement as a bitter pill to swallow in exchange for something better down the line, I saw a lot of Trump and Elon worship.
Now, RFK is making more biden-esque gaffs, bizarre promotions with Kid Rock, bending over backwards to engineer a PR nightmare for himself every other day.
As an African American, the fact that he's still at Trump's side after the gutting of the VRA, in spite of how close his family was to MLK.
On top of that, his legacy fighting for the environment being eroded by Trump pushing through with Glyphosate and allowing certain companies to dump in rivers again is too much.
He campaigned on soft power internationally, and increasing national pride. Yet we were dragged kicking and screaming into making it rain oil from black skies in Iran, over bogus Intel and our pedo in Chief wanting to distract from the Epstein files. RFK is still at his side.
When Democrats eventually take back the White house and Senate majority, his detractors are going to have all the ammunition they need to destroy everything he did in HHS. Exiting the ship now and standing against Trump, alongside Massie and Ro could have bought him some grace to continue his work down the line.
But now, it's spinning down the drain.
Take care guys, I wish you well. But this community is not for me anymore.
Fuck Trump.
I'm not even remotely delusional to think that we have a prayer of the SB this year, but I do see us as a potential Wildcard team, with the Wildcard being our floor if we get Cam back.
If we get Cam back, I think we can make a run for the NFCC.
I imagine he's our biggest priority before trying anything else in FA, and given our strong draft (2nd best draft class in franchise history behind 2017, imo), I think it's almost impossible for us to have a losing season, especially with Tyler coming into his own towards the end of last season, and us finally getting a Tight End to mold to him.
If we get Cam back and make a moderate playoff run with him this year, I see us as dark horse Superbowl contenders next year.
Me personally, I hated cold cuts as a kid until I recently (28 now) started toasting the bread, lightly drizzling olive oil, and seasoning whatever cold veggies I use with salt, pepper and everything bagel seasoning, before I put either cold cut roast beef or turkey breast on. Changed my opinion entirely.
You guys?
