my german student visa arrived in basically 2 working days | delhi vfs timeline | winter 2026 intake

thought i’d share my experience because most information online about APS and german student visas is either outdated or terrifying for no reason.

for context, i had a pretty straightforward profile: DU graduate, german till B2 with certificate, 7.5 IELTS, around 1 year work experience, and everything aligned properly with my academic background and public university admission.

my APS certificate came in less than 2 weeks, roughly around 1.5 weeks.

for the blocked account, i went with Expatrio and the process there was smooth too.

visa timeline:
29 april — appointment at delhi VFS
30 april — got notification that my file had been forwarded to the german embassy
2 may — case closed
3 may — passport delivered

the entire visa process felt surprisingly quick and convenient. everything is digital now, so i uploaded all documents online beforehand. i did receive correction requests once, fixed them, re-uploaded the documents, and after that everything went smoothly.

the actual VFS appointment was extremely simple. no interview, no questioning, barely any document checking. i had carried multiple photocopies of every document thinking they’d need them, but they didn’t even take a single copy from me. they mostly relied on the uploaded application and printed things themselves.

the appointment was basically biometrics, passport submission and waiting. took around 2 hours overall.

personally, i think the process moved quickly because my application was organised, consistent and easy to verify. there were no anomalies or confusing details in my case, and i made sure all university and personal information was properly mentioned.
