Mac Ayres – “Easy” hits different when it’s stripped down

Came across this live session and it really shows how much emotion sits behind Mac Ayres’ sound. No heavy production, just pure vocals, keys, and that calm groove that makes you stop whatever you’re doing.

It’s the kind of performance that feels like it was made at 2am when everything is quiet and real.

Day job + music post

Do you ever feel like your job outside music changes the kind of music you make? Like it might slow you down, but also maybe gives you better ideas or makes you more intentional with what you put out?

After Work Creativity

How do you guys actually manage to make music after a long day at work?

Some days I feel completely drained and the last thing my brain wants is to be creative. Do you push through anyway, or just wait for the rare days when the energy is there?

Kanye really made Spaceship while working at Gap and that’s still relatable

Fam,let's reason.

Crazy to think Kanye used to work at Gap before music fully worked out for him. He even talked about it in “Spaceship” dealing with boring shifts, low pay, and feeling like he was meant for something bigger.

I think that’s why a lot of people still relate to that song years later. A lot of us are doing the same thing right now: working regular jobs during the day and trying to create whenever we have energy left.

What makes it even crazier is that he later ended up partnering with Gap through Yeezy.

Sometimes I wonder how many good songs or albums never get finished just because people are too tired from work and life stuff.

Fam how do you personally balance work, life, and still finding time to create?

ELI5: why is bread not allowed on the paleo diet?

I’ve been seeing people say you can’t eat bread if you’re doing paleo, but I don’t really get why. Humans have been eating bread for ages, so what exactly makes it “not allowed” in paleo? Is it just because it’s grains, or is there more to it?

Anyone else’s robot vacuum weirdly bad at corners?

I finally gave in and bought a robot vacuum a while back after telling myself for years that they were unnecessary lol. Gotta admit though, it’s actually been pretty useful, especially on days when I’m too tired to clean after work.

Mine does a decent job overall but it still randomly gets trapped under chairs like it’s fighting for its life. Corners are also kinda hit or miss. I didn’t expect perfection, but I thought it’d be a little smarter.

For people who’ve had one longer than me, do they get better after more mapping runs or is this basically as good as it gets? Also wondering if there are any setup tricks that make a noticeable difference.

Musicians Who Got Degrees But Still Chose Music Full-Time

I’ve always found it interesting how some musicians actually finished college or earned serious degrees before fully committing to music

Let's reason this fam,

Brian May from Queen studied astrophysics and eventually completed his PhD years later while still performing with the band. Tom Scholz, the guy behind Boston, graduated from MIT with an engineering degree before building one of the biggest rock bands of the 70s.

Megan Thee Stallion stayed in school and earned her health administration degree even while her music career was already taking off. Dexter Holland from The Offspring studied molecular biology and was working toward a PhD before the band blew up.

There’s also Childish Gambino (Donald Glover), who graduated from NYU before becoming successful in music, acting, and writing.

Interesting 🤔 right? r/MusicInTheMaking

I think stories like these are underrated because people usually act like artists either become famous super young or give up everything for music immediately. In reality, a lot of them were balancing school, jobs, and life responsibilities before going all in.

Honestly makes the whole music journey feel more realistic.

What’s another artist you know who had a completely different path before music took over?

The Hidden Cost of Creativity: How Musicians Balance Art, Work, and Burnout.

I was reading an article earlier about how difficult it’s become for musicians and creative people to stay productive without completely burning themselves out. These days it feels like artists are expected to constantly create, post online, stay relevant, and somehow still enjoy making music at the same time.

One part that really stood out to me was the idea that creativity isn’t always about motivation or inspiration. A lot of musicians apparently rely more on routine and discipline than waiting to “feel creative.” The article also talked about late bloomers in music and how some artists don’t really find their sound or success until much later in life.

It also mentioned how burnout quietly affects a lot of creative people. Some end up losing passion for music because it starts feeling more like pressure than something they actually love. A few artists in the article said taking breaks, staying offline more, or keeping a normal daily routine helped them stay grounded creatively.

I honestly think this applies to a lot of people outside music too.

Do you think discipline matters more than inspiration when it comes to creativity? And how do you personally avoid burnout or stay consistent with your work/hobbies?

I think our hired tilers / contractors who did tiling last week put grout water down this outside drain. It is now holding stagnant water and is completely clogged. The grout water was probably poured days ago and I’ve only just discovered this now. Looked online and it seems grout water is notorious for the sediments hardening in the drain and causing a clog. What can we do?
