West Ham on Monday , what’s everyone hoping?

So I’ll be going to the game on Monday and while I think generally I’m happy with whatever result and just want to watch an entertaining game there is obviously the fact that if West Ham do get a result it increases the chance of either Tottenham or Forest getting relegated ( and either would make me happy)

However one thing we can’t forget is that we are also six points off sixth place with two games in hand and if Aston Villa do end up winning the Europa league and also qualify for the Champions league via league position this basically opens up a champions league spot for sixth ( I think? Though correct me if I’m wrong)! Also to note we are playing many of the teams that are also vying for the same spot before the end of the season.

So now I’m thinking in a way this is also a must win game: just imagine if we qualify for the champions league by ending arsenals title winning hopes on the last day of the season and then further cement that by winning the conference league a few days later? That may almost top the FA cup win if I’m being honest 🤣! What does everyone else think?

“We are the same size and have the same ceiling as Bournemouth”

So the above isn’t an exact quote however statements such as the above are exactly what I’ve seen over the past few days/weeks and the worst bit about it is this is coming from “ Palace fans” ( if anyone reads the BBS you’ll see what I mean) and I really do struggle to see how we are in anyway on the same level as Bournemouth!

Now of course I’m not saying we are one of the biggest clubs in the country or even in the top 15 in the country however there is not one metric where Bournemouth could be seen as bigger than us ( apart from there league position this year I guess? )

Trophies - obviously the FA cup last year and Charity Shield , Bournemouth have 0. Obviously also a good chance of winning a European trophy this year

Premier League/ top flight status - we’ve been in the top flight longer and I believe historically we’ve spent far far more time in the first division than Bournemouth

Fan Base- by any metric our fan base is bigger than Bournemouth’s , I mean look at Reddit as an example, at the moment palaces sub reddit gets 11.1K weekly visitors , Bournemouth gets about 3.1K ( so more than triple) ! This trend also replicates across all social media

Catchment area- South London one of the most densely populated areas in the country , no competition there

Stadium- Much larger capacity than Bournemouths and with plans to expand our capacity even further

I think I’m just a bit tired of people , especially fellow fans completely downplaying our success, you would literally think we are exactly the same club as when we were newly promoted from the championship for the first time ( and even then we were bigger than Bournemouth).

The way some people talk about us you would think we are a league two club at best ( probably more national league south) ! Sorry about the rant , just wanted to vent haha
