My job isn’t very busy all the time, so I often have long periods during the day with nothing to do. When there is work, I do it, but when there isn’t, I end up just scrolling on my phone and wasting time.

I feel like I could be doing something more useful or meaningful during these free hours, but I’m not sure what would be best.

Does anyone have suggestions for productive things I can do at my desk during work downtime? Maybe skills to learn, side activities, or anything that could help me improve myself or even benefit my career.

I’d really appreciate practical ideas that I can realistically do in an office environment.

I started learning cybersecurity a while ago but stopped because I wasn’t consistent and lost momentum. Now I’m stuck — I want to get back into it, but honestly it doesn’t feel that interesting anymore, which makes it harder to stay disciplined.

Has anyone else gone through this?

How did you restart when motivation wasn’t there? I’d really appreciate advice on:

- How to make learning cybersecurity engaging again

- Simple plans or routines to stay consistent

- What topics or hands-on stuff I should focus on first

Right now I feel like I’m just forcing it without direction. Any guidance or realistic study plans would help a lot.

Thanks in advance.
