I put in for upgrades with PlusPoints on two ANA flights this month booked through United. The system couldn’t find the reservation when I put in for the upgrades, so I had to call United and eventually they were able to change my flight number to the ANA flight and put the upgrade through.

However two things happened that didn’t happen the last few times I did this. First, I’m waitlisted. Previously these upgrades cleared immediately and my colleagues say the same. Second, the PlusPoints were removed from my account immediately. Previously the points didn’t come out until after the flight.

Is something wrong here or is this normal?
