28th Birthday Slumber Dance Party

Hi All!

I'm hosting a party at my apartment for the first time and I wanted to get some advice and ideas! The space is medium/ feels small at 950 sqft(i think???): two bedroom, one smaller than the other, one small bathroom, and a narrow kitchen with a small dining space, and the living room is right at the front door. Kitchen dining and living room are basically all the same space, there is just a half wall where the sink/counterspace is between the kitchen and living room. My apartment can feel crowded with only three people lol so I was thinking I would have all of the rooms available with different things to do.

The theme is Slumber Party so everyone will be in pjs and my friend is gonna DJ. I was thinking either my living room or the smaller room straight back would be where he's got his dj and speaker set up. I was thinking maybe having him in the living room would be too overwhelming by the entrance/kitchen/food? but the living room was supposed to be the dance floor so idk? Maybe it still can be but the DJ is in the back? What do you think?

I'll have drinks in the kitchen, and push the lil breakfast table back to make more room for chairs and standing. My friend is gonna make a signature drink. I'm thinking food will either be on the table or in the kitchen? My friend is going to do face paint and maybe stick & poke tattoos so they may want the table. Or they could be the one in the back room with crafts and games?

To make more space I can put a blanket over my bed so people can sit on it, create cozy seating on the floor, maybe even have a blow up mattress somewhere since it matches the theme?? or if that takes up too much room I could use the pull out couch in the back room as another cozy bed (kinda like that Bed Club in one episode of sex & the city! S6, E7)

Some other ideas for things to do: I'll have a projector in my bedroom playing a movie, an area with crafts/games, some temporary tattoos people can use.

For decor I'm gonna add CLUB SLUMBER to my front door so people see it when they arrive, lay sheets on the couch and have lots of pillows. And I'm definitely on a budget so I'm gonna try to find some cheap decorations to hang up with stars and stuff like that. And I'm gonna put up poster sized paper for people to draw a doodle of themselves and maybe another one that says "28 things we love about the birthday girl:" I was thinking of having a good amount of candles but not where it would take up too much space for people.

Anyway, I was wondering if you guys had another other ideas for decorating, games, layout, etc? I'm also feeling overwhelmed about having so many people over and was wondering if you have any advise about hosting your own party in general, but also in a smaller space. And I'm going to tell my neighbors im having a party and that it will probably be loud, any have advice on how to go about this?

Thanks in advance!
