Dealer pulled the 4-square on me even after I laid out exactly what I wanted from the start

Walked into a Toyota dealer last week to pick up a RAV4 XLE Premium, already had OTD quotes from 3 other dealers nearby and knew my number going in. Told the salesman straight up what trim I wanted, what I'd seen elsewhere and that I wasnt interested in going back and forth. Even had it written on my phone.

Still somehow ended up in the finance office staring at a 4-square worksheet. I had some money set aside for a solid down payment so monthly payments were the last thing on my mind, I just needed the OTD to be right. Crossed out 3 of the boxes, circled the total and slid it back. Guy disappears for 10 minutes, comes back with basically the same sheet just rearranged. Did that like 3 more times.

Eventually they just matched what I had from the other dealer and we moved on. whole thing took 2.5 hours for what shouldve been a 45 min transaction.

do dealers just run this play on everyone regardless of how prepared you walk in, or did I get a particularly stubborn one lol
