Safest payment method?
My local crunch opened up and it hasn't hit the 30 day point for my free membership. I plan on continuing the membership after the free 30 days, but I'm thinking of changing my payment method after I found a $9-something charge on my credit card from them. The terms of the membership is the annual fee and the monthly with is around $12 including the processing fee so I knew it couldn't be either of those two. Emailed them and they asked me if I bought anything in-store and I 100% did not. Had no idea they could just use my card on file for the things they sell willy nilly like that. Not too worried by the charge since I already told them I didn't purchase anything and I plan of doing a chargeback if that doesn't work out.
The whole situation just makes me wonder if there's a safer payment method or if I lucked out choosing credit card since I can just do a chargeback. Understand that it's probably better to switch to another gym but the next gym out is 20 minutes away from me.
