Apex Pro with Custom Top Question

Apex Pro with Custom Top Question

Hi there. I've been obsessing over getting a new desk for quite a few weeks now. I've been looking into Flexispot, Uplift, and now DeskHaus. I found a good deal (at least I think it's a good deal?) on Facebook market place. It's a 2" thick 3'x8' slab of an already finished top of Cherry wood. The guy selling it has it on some fixed 28" legs already that are stationary. So it's already a usable desk. I managed to get the price down to $700. Not my main question, but if anyone can confirm this is a good deal I'd appreciate it. I'll be picking it up tomorrow most likely.

So I would like to put this on some adjustable legs. Would this size work well for the Apex Pro? I know they sell the extended rails that go up to this size.. I guess my question isn't entirely so much of if it would fit, but rather if I would need the Apex Pro Max. The top is going to be roughly 150lbs making it very top heavy (heh heh). I'd rather not use the Apex Pro Max if I don't need to, as I will want to occasionally have an ottoman underneath and I also like to stretch my legs out; the cross bar would be in the way. Feed back is highly welcome!

Also, is Cherry fine in general to use as a top? I believe its almost on par with walnut in hardness as far as the Janka scale is concerned.
