I was THIS close to a pricey mistake

I usually take care of my electronics a lot, especially my macbook but 3 days ago I made a huge mistake by leaving a glass full of water next to the laptop.

Next thing I know the water went flying (I hit the the cup by mistake) and made a mess (most of the water hit the table, barely any water got on the laptop).

I immediately tried cleaning what I could and thought that I was in the safe, except that couple minutes later it started restarting out of the blue and then turned off indefinitely.

I grabbed it and drove like a maniac to the store (I felt like a husband driving to the hospital for their wife's labour).

I was told that the team would send me a report within 2 days for the repairs.

Shit was so anxiety-inducing because I can't do anything without my macbook: university, personal projects...everything.

I was so worried and started calculating what would be the deciding cost to go for it or not. 500$? Too much but i can't do anything without my laptop. 200$? Fair but still. Whole motherboard is fried and needs a replacement? Lmao.

They contacted me two days ago and guess how much it cost? 20$!

"Found liquid damage inside, which caused corrosion around the lid sensor. Cleaned liquid and corrosion, started working fine"

Been using this since then, everything's alright.

I was THIS close to fucking everything up. Lesson learned :)
