Need help paddling

Need help paddling

My family loves canoeing and fishing. We were gifted this 60s Grumman 15ft from my parents. I grew up riding in the middle of it and my kids will now also.

My one issue is I have canoed my whole life but never really built a paddling technique. I seem to switch sides really often and seem to get a bunch of water inside the boat off the paddle when switching sides. I also feel like I should have a shorter paddle but maybe it’s just the bad technique.

Any tips? Also looking for paddle suggestions since one of ours is cracked anyways

A couple days ago I noticed my bottom freezer items were cold but not frozen anymore and I thought the fridge was not as cold as I thought it should be.

Fridge and freezer both get down to the mid 40s but not much less than that.

Checked evaporator and it had a little frost but nothing big. E Fan is running great. Checked compressor and it is running and very warm (not HOT). Condenser is clean and Fan is running.

Is there anything else I should check before buying a fridge tomorrow? I have most of the tools needed. I use to refurbish Pepsi machines so I have enough knowledge but we also had PepsiCo Budget and would replace parts pretty much no matter the issue. It’s not worth it for me to replace a compressor for my $150 fridge, so I’m looking for any other cheap possible fixes I’m not thinking of.

Looking for the best budget starter rig. This would be used for primarily panfish. Want a light as reasonably possible casting rig.

Thanks in advance

So I’m in the last few steps of the recruitment process at the first department I applied for. I have Poly and 2 board interviews. 1 with all the brass and 1 with the departments merit board.

I know the question will be asked. “Why do you want to be in law enforcement?”

Well they always say not to answer that “I want to help people”. The issue is, that’s exactly why I want to do it.

I’m 30, I already make a good living, I have been a leader in careers, I’ve started and ran a successful business, I’ve driven fast cars, I’ve shot lots of guns, etc. I truly want to help people and go home knowing I made someone’s day/life or my community just a little better.

I grew up wanting to be a police officer, wrote my high school career speech about becoming one. Then went to college and got a degree in High performance Automotive technologies. Graduated and then realized I still had a police dream, went and almost completed a certificate for criminal justice. Then got married, had a couple kids, and built a business and a full time corporate career. Got another bachelors degree in Accounting and finance. And I really just keep coming back to my want to get into law enforcement. My wife and I run a local church ministry and I get to see a lot of the crime/local issues and it’s really brought me back to wanting to pursue it even more.

What is the best way to express my reasoning without sounding like I’m just taking the easy route by saying “I want to help people”?
