I always want to try to build a world about mermaids but don't know how write them as a species. Can you guys decide whether mermaids should be:
A. An all-female species with hermaphroditic traits
B. An all- female species that reproduce with male humans (similar to lamia)
C. An all-female species that reproduce by parthenogenesis ( like the whiptail lizard)
D. Both female and male mermaids exist
I personally like mermaids as an all-female species but I don't think most people agree with that. Tell me which one is better, please.
I've heard people saying that the piece of clothing us muslim women wear is not hijab but a khimar or headscarf. Is that true or am I misunderstanding this?
Happy Mermay monster huggers!
Here's another mermaid to celebrate my favourite month.
Also I decide to give fun facts every Friday. Hope you guys don't mind weekly monster girl mythology facts. Also really sorry for my last post.
Thanks to everyone from all the communities I'm in. I thought I will only get 2 or 3 suggestions but I got a lot more than I expected. Again I have a busy life and just started art so it will be a long time for me to post art. So please be patient.

Hey check out this cool Filipino Centaur!
Anyways the real reason I made this post is to tell you I'm starting a new thing where I tell a fun fact about monster girls in world Mythology. Since I know too much about silly creatures like mermaids and centaurs might as well share them to people who love them. Tell me if you like me to do this daily, weekly or whatever. Constructive criticism is appreciated.
Give me some ideas for me to draw during Mermay. I'm a beginner artist and I think that using Mermay could help me do better at art since I have a big interest in mermaids. Here's the criteria:
1.Traditional(fish tail) and non-tradtional(non-fish tail) are allowed. What count as a mermaid for me is that they are half aquatic or semi-aquatic creature. For example: crocodiles, otters, frogs.
No NSFW meaning gore and explicit content.
Religious themes are allowed but no political themes.
No children. I want to draw adult and late teen bodies first before I tackle younger bodies.
I love it if you give some non-trad mermaid suggestions so I can learn to draw more shapes. I have a very busy life so I might not finish all of them in this month and the most late I can be is by the end of the year.
