Hi folks - any ideas how to turn these two bits into a functioning broom again would be much appreciated!

It seems like the broom in my shop was being held together by a short, flimsy plastic tube with an exterior thread that both parts were screwed onto. This tube has now snapped right at the join, and the remaining parts of it are still screwed in at either end.

I hate waste and would very much like to repair this, even though I know it would be quicker and probably cheaper to get a new “disposable” one.
