So, I recently got my permit, and during my test my instructor told me it was okay to go slow around corners as long as I get back up to speed fast once I’m almost fully through.
So I’ve stuck with that, I slow for every corner but I’ve been honked at by cars almost every time. I indicate before I begin slowing down, use gentle brake pressure, it’s not a slam on the brakes kind of slow, but car drivers seem to be pretty pissed whenever I take a corner.
I do think it’s relevant that I don’t drive a car. I have my full car license, but am just not keen on driving cars, so I don’t have as much road experience as others do.
I know the basics ( road etiquette, who has right of way, speed limits when there is no signage, etc.) but I feel like I MUST be doing something wrong for these drivers to get so bothered by me ?
That being said, I live in an area where basically everyone speeds. I had to pull over for over an hour this morning because there were so many cars doing over 100 in an 80 zone, and I simply didn’t feel safe.
Any ideas on what I could be/should be doing differently?
