Winter riding jackets
Does anyone have recommendations for Winter motorbike jackets, I get cold veryyy easily so I’d want something to keep me warm but also something that I can wear layers with.

I'm in Sydney
As title. Just wondering what others have done? I was a quite confident rider and did a fair bit of off-road riding on various dirt bikes including a full day course. Also rode supermoto and did a few long trips.
Just feeling apprehensive as it's been so long. Dont want to drop my new (used) bike
Just picked up a CBR650R after riding a Ninja 300 for few years, and honestly any motorbike which makes over 70hp feels like overkill for Sydney roads. Every ride puts a grin on my face because of how good it sounds, but at the same time I’m constantly watching my speed. It kind of takes the fun out of it. I rarely hit the highways anyway, it’s mostly just work-to-home commuting.
Currently have a ZH2, but I'm looking at maybe moving to an R 1300 GS?
I grew up watching Cheese TV, so it's probably time to sacrifice a little performance for comfort. I'm yet to test ride anything yet so I'm open to suggestions or happy to just be called crazy even thinking about it.
Also I have absolutely zero issues putting 100,000km on a bike, even if it's a ZH2, so maybe a BMW is too expensive? or maybe it's the best choice for putting 100k on?
So I just did day one today and it well pretty only stalled a handful of times and was just getting the hang of gear changes (still not smooth) just curious as to what to expect tomorrow for day 2
Hi all I’m abit confused about the laws, I read somewhere it says it must be factory stock or something, and my ninja has been molestered and I plan on molestering it with another $1000 In parts. For example; new bars and triple clamp, tail tidy, levers, grips, fairings, I have added a winglet to the front of the bike safely, it has a yoshi trc pipe, redbull fairings, rear cowl, seat cover etc the list just goes on. What I wanna know is would it pass, I know the pipe won’t so I’ll need to add stock, would I also need to add the air restrictor back in too?
Thanks for any help.
Just got back from a 2300km trip and I’m thinking it’s time to replace my 7 year old Shoei Neotec 2. So what did you get?
I like riding around town with chin up, but I think I could go without. Also need to easily get my cardo installed. I like the neotec 3, especially in the old looking white, red, black combo, but the price is up there.
Keen to know what you got and what you ride. I’m on an fjr1300.
Bloke I bought my bike (gsx1400) off has put an offer in to buy it back randomly.
What would you be looking at in the same vein.. Preferences - big bore Japanese i4, FI but open to carb and muscle bike/standard/UJM. Theres obviously the z900rs.. but they CAN be a little pricey used.. what should I have a ride of? I was thinking of the 05 Kawa z1000.
I do my mechanical work myself and commute, so I want something I’m not constantly fussing over because it’s broken down I have a 4g63 engine for that.
How much riding gear do you actually need?
I’ve seen people say you should own multiple jackets, pants, boots, gloves, etc. Basically backups for everything. I've also seen people say 1 set is enough
I currently only have 1 set of everything.
How much gear do you run?
Do you think it’s worth owning more than one set?
Thanks
G’day legends, are most riders in NSW Cardo users?
If so, what is the main use? Music, phone calls, talking with other riders (obviously) Keen to be influenced or talked out of it. Cheers!
So I have a 2023 ninja 650l it’s just reached 20,000km and I’ve booked it in for a major service, I was previously taking it to the dealership but they are now gone so Im going to a different mechanic. Is this a good rough quote or is it a little high? I understand it’s a major service but this feels a bit on the high end to me
Edit: The total came to $1,636
I'm a new rider, bought a bunch of gear no more than a month ago
Argon Phaze Riding Jeans seem to fit me really well, however, not even 5 uses out of them and they were tearing away from the seam right in the middle of my butt, i just went to swap them for another pair, was forced to pay extra for the Scorchers because they had no Phaze in stock, but now i hold them up to the light (after not even wearing them) and i seem to see the same issue occurring, right in the same spot, it seem to not be stitched very well
- Is this a common issue for these jeans?
Im just trying to look for a 38-30 taper black jean that wont tear apart after a few uses
Looking to upgrade from my 250cc honda now that i’m off my learners and have (for my type of riding and size) outgrown my beloved bike.
I have heard great things about cfmotos and I’m personally looking at upgrading to a cfmoto 450sr (2023 or newer) but for the same price i can get a 2013-2016~ cbr500r
what are peoples personal thoughts and experiences on cfmoto as a brand and their bikes?
Hi all I’m currently on my L’s and riding a CB300R as a daily In Sydney (NSW) on my working holiday visa from the UK.
I can apply for my red P’s at the start of next month but im wondering if theres any point trying to progress to get my greens and the full licence..?
I’m 22 so under the threshold for the over 25 for skipping the Green P’s, on my first working holiday visa here of the 3 years and I’m gonna need 3 years and 3 months learning.. (3 months L’s, 1 Year Red P’s, 2 years Green P’s).
Am I setting myself up for disappointment? Or is there any way of continuing this once I go back to the UK??
Anyone been in this situation? Kind of feel like im just waiting to be disappointed..
title. thanks all!!
Hello,
This would be my first time changing oil in my Honda CB500X, and I have a couple of questions.
1. Engine oil
The manual has this specification for the oil
>- JASO T 903 standard: MA
- SAE standard: 10W-30
- API classification: SG or higher
And I've found this engine oil at SuperCheap Auto that meets those. However, it is only semi-synthetic which I've heard is not as good as fully synthetic. But I can't find any 10W-30 that is fully synthetic at SCA or Autobarn. Is there another place that is better to get oil? If not, is this oil suitable?
2. Oil filter
How do I know which oil filter is suitable? I have the part number if I want to get a genuine Honda oil filter online, but can any other oil filter be used instead if it is cheaper?
Do I need a chain wrench to remove the oil filter or can I just try with my hands?
Do I need to use a torque wrench to put the new one on?
3. Torque wrench?
Do I need a torque wrench for the drain bolt? Or can I estimate with a 12mm spanner? Or do I specifically need a socket to remove the drain bolt?
4. Sealing washer
Is the sealing washer on the drain bolt just any washer, or is there such thing as a specific sealing washer? Should it be rubber or stainless steel?
5. Make sure I have a list of everything I need
Are these all the parts I will need?
- Engine oil
- Oil filter
- Oil pan
- 12mm spanner (or socket?)
- 12mm sealing washer
- Chain wrench (potentially?)
Hopefully these questions make sense. Thank you!
Hi, I’ve purchased a 2015 lams mt07 that has been de restricted, it has had the airbox modification done and also the throttle plate done I believe.
It also has a full Akra exhaust.
While yes the bike has more of a kick, would anyone happen to know why it still tops out at 170? Does the 2015 have some sort of ecu restriction or is it something else?
I’m obviously not doing this so I can sit on 200ks an hour, I’m more so afraid im missing a restriction, that could possibly be effecting low down power as well.
(So people don’t have a go at me, For reference this bike has been registered as a non lams bike and I am not holding a restricted license, so Id love to have access to the full power)
It also has a power commander, but I believe the tune done on it was just for the full exhaust so it runs happily and not really for any specific power gains.
Been stressing about it for months, but it’s done now!
