2013 Toyota Rav4 Cruiser 2.5 L Petrol.

Auto. Not CVT transmission.

ETA: 170,000 km (106,000 miles) on the odometer.

The car was shuddering (rumble strips) at low speed, I thought it was the torque converter but mechanic did a basic drain and fill on the transmission.

The rumble strips went away but there was a vibration happening (not as violent as the rumble strips), multiple times a day at all speeds and only when accelerating.

Took the car back and they did a full flush with a kit similar to the picture (couldn't find the exact one he showed me).

ETA: I was in the process of buying the car. I said I didn't want the car because of the shudder (after the second test drive). The dealer said the issue would be addressed, the dealership's mechanic was the one who chose to do these processes. I trusted the mechanic to do the right thing for the car. I didn't agree with the flush, but it's what was recommended.

Now the vibration has gone but I have experienced 2 gear slips. One the day when I picked it up (24 Apr) at 40 km/h and one on 01 May at 60 km/h.

What is happening is, I'm accelerating and then all of the sudden the revs go up and it's like - temporarily out of gear. I stop accelerating and then accelerate again and everything is back to normal. Is that a gear slip?

Is this normal to happen after the service/flush kit?

I am new owner of the car so I don't have any knowledge of how well the transmission was maintained before me.

I will take it back to mechanic, I just want to know if it's not unusual for this to happen with fresh transmission fluid in there.

How many times does it have to happen before it's a concern? I'm guessing 1 but I'm hoping it's not that concerning at the moment.

Thanks 😊

2013 Rav4 Cruiser 2.5 L Petrol.

I will take to my mechanic eventually, but I've just bought it used from a dealer and it passed roadworthy and had a service, so I don't really need to take it to my mechanic for a while.

Was wondering if it's an issue that I need to address ASAP.

It's kinda green in colour, doesn't dissolve when I rub my fingers together. Rubs off easily in some places but not off the black plastic fuse covers as easily. I thought it was salt, but it kinda feels oily as well. And the car is from Ballarat, so not near the ocean, lol.

What is it? Any ideas? Thanks.
