Master in political science: VUB or another Uni?
Hi everyone!
I am a law graduate from an EU country and I want to pursue a one-year master’s degree in political science in Belgium, in English.
I would also like to improve my French, so I would prefer to live in a French-speaking city.
At the moment, I’m most interested in the Master in Political Science: European and International Governance at VUB. The programme itself seems very interesting, the courses are focused on topics I enjoy, and the Etterbeek campus also seems like a great location, with good connections to the rest of Brussels.
However, I’ve also seen political science programmes at ULB, UCLouvain and the University of Antwerp. I also know that KU Leuven is generally considered the strongest university academically in Belgium, but the closest option there seems to be the Master of International Politics, and I’m personally more interested in political science.
Does anyone have experience with the VUB programme?
Is it very selective to get into? They say they require 30 ECTS credits in political science-related courses, and I think I have around 60.
Do you know whether the workload would allow for part-time work?
Or maybe you know something about the programmes at the other universities? Would you recommend one over the others?
I’d really appreciate any advice or opinions from people familiar with these universities.
Thanks in advance!
