I am currently a professional teacher working in the United States under a J-1 visa. My contract will expire in 2028, and it is mandatory for me to return to the Philippines.
Although I can still reapply to work in the U.S. as a teacher, honestly, I don’t want to continue in this profession anymore. I would like to transition into a different field.
When I return to the Philippines, I am planning to pursue a degree in nursing. Hopefully, this could give me another opportunity to come back to the U.S. in the future.
I will be 42 years old by the time I return to the Philippines, and I am wondering if it is still realistic at my age to study and complete a nursing degree. I understand that the U.S. does not have strict age restrictions in the workforce, but I am concerned about how things work in the Philippines.
I would really appreciate your advice on whether I should pursue nursing or stay in teaching. Thank you so much.
