Hello all, we are in the process of reconverting and replacing a downdraft range with a new range and overhead hood that pulls up to 1200cfm. The current 8" downdraft vent pipe runs through/under the slab and vents to outside air on the side of our house. The downdraft tube intake is directly under the location where we are installing the new slide-in range so I am wondering what issues there would be if I use this existing 8" vent pipe for a passive make-up air intake and if there are any low profile air filtration systems I could put over the vent under the range.
