One thing that always annoyed me about this game is how inconsistent blocking is. In M1 trades, especially, they can feel really flip-floppy. This is partially due to how easily side-dash M1 can break through your defense. Though this has more to do with side-dash M1 being so necessary for most characters to do anything in close quarters. (something I'm also not a fan of, though, as a Yuki player myself, I don't have to worry about it that much since I have other ways of winning neutral)
With blocking being omnidirectional by default, this knocks the viability of side-dash M1 a ton since you can actually hope to punish it on block.
With this change, I also want to see shield health like in smash bros. What I mean by this is that you block, and the health of the block drains over time. When the block's health reaches 0, you get put in a guardbroken state (The block break state from Higgy that lets you combo off of a block break). This discourages passive play a bit since they can't just block forever, or else they risk giving their opponent a free combo.
To make up for the previous change, most moves that used to block break now do a bunch of shield damage. Not only that, but I also wanna see more universal defensive options that aren't evasive. Something like a burst that knocks the opponent away and resets to neutral, which can only be done while blocking.
I also want to see blockstrings be a thing, but I don't know how that could be implemented. I want to hear what y'all think. Do y'all see the vision?
