In most early-stage exploration stories, the biggest challenge is proving that the overall concept even works in that location. You’re asking multiple big questions at once, and any one of them can break the investment case.

NovaRed’s situation is a bit different because of what Hudbay Minerals has already established with Copper Mountain. That operation shows that the Quesnel belt can host large-scale copper-gold porphyry systems with long mine life and stable production profiles.

So NovaRed isn’t starting from zero with Wilmac. They’re operating in a context where geology, infrastructure, and even permitting have already been demonstrated in practice. The recent approval of New Ingerbelle is a good example of that, it shows that projects in this area can still move forward under current conditions.

There’s also the social side, which often gets overlooked. Updated agreements with First Nations in the region suggest that long-term relationships can be maintained and adapted, which removes another layer of uncertainty that usually hangs over early-stage projects.

All of that means NovaRed’s job is more focused than it might seem at first glance. They don’t need to prove the entire system works. They need to show that Wilmac shares the same key geological characteristics as what’s already been mined nearby.

If they can demonstrate that, the market doesn’t have to stretch to understand the story. It already has a clear reference point in Copper Mountain.
