The Last Of Us part 2 is a good game.
I think most TLOU fans can agree the gameplay is good, so imma talk bout the story, which people have been arguing about for 6 years.
The reason I think people argue about the story so much is that they WANT to pick a side, but the game just doesnt let you.
This is because all the revenge killing is justified.
Joel killing Abby's dad? Justified
Abby avenging her dad by killing Joel? Justified.
Ellie and Tommy avenging Joel by killing Abby's friends? Justified.
Because it's all to avenge (or save) a very close and loved person in these characters lives.
So when both sides are "right", there is no wrong side to be against.
Both sides are protagonist and antagonist.
You literally cannot choose a side because you'll be against the protagonist either way.
Now, another thing.
Just because the revenge killing is justified doesn't mean it doesn't have consequences.
That's what the game is about.
TLOU part 2 is about how understandable and reasonable actions can still have dire, painful, and life-altering consequences.
And in the end of the game, Ellie finally realizes this, so she spares Abby.
This game literally frustrates me with how uncomfortable it is, the lack of closure it gives.
But the only reason I care enough to be frustrated is because the writing is just that good.
