So I am a f28 who is best friends with a M32, let's call him Mike. My friend Mike is autistic and we are very close. I am married, and my husband has no problems with me being friends with him. They know each other and are friends themselves. However, that isn't the issue.
Mike and I play dungeons and dragons together. Mike and I never talk about our characters but somehow we always make characters that compliment each other very well and always creates a very unique bond with each other. We get into our characters a lot, and we always talk about after campaign how that relationship would have developed. Not new, very us, I write and he loves the exercise of me asking "hey in the future my character would have done x, y, and z. They would have asked for your character help. How would that look?" And he gets really into it and talks it out with me.
Recently though, we had another player join our campaign, who has an easy in next to my character. This player, M34 let's call him Dave, is now really excited to join our game. No problems there. Mike is cool with Dave joining.
However, here is where I am starting to see something. Dave started to talk about our characters knowing each in the future where his brain starts to develop head cannons, nothing big, I was a little awkward about it because nothing had developed in the campaign yet and I don't like forcing it. But I am happy to indulge him because he is a good friend. Who knows? He loves creating as well, and if anything we can make an awesome story.
I told Mike about this, and instantly he wasn't thrilled. Now, every time it can come up, he jokes about Dave. I brought it up to Mike and he just says something along the lines of "its just a joke". Which I do believe it is, it's just weird because he never does this with anyone else. When I ask my husband about it, he defends Dave and says Mike isn't understanding. Which could be true. I don't know. It feels like Mike is jealous.
How do I explain to Mike what this looks like in a way that makes sense to him? Ive tried several times and I was just confused. Maybe I am wrong? I just need some clarity.
