I always thought of my own reimagining of the Mario universe while also taking some inspirations from the Mario Movie & I want ideas and your suggestions on what I could do. But here are my overall ideas I thoughts of when it comes to establishing the base world.

Not to mention the fact that I love comic books & I always wanted to become a Comic Book writer in the future so this could help me exercise.

So here are my ideas for my reimagining of this universe.

• The main cast would be Mario, & Luigi but I also thought of having Pauline as an established partner for Mario but I'm not sure how Pauline's dynamic with Luigi could work.
• Mario & Luigi would be from Brooklyn that would be isekai'd to the world, Mario's characterization would be adventurous & brave but also could be very reckless while Luigi is the brother who tries to wrangle Mario back, Luigi would be cowardly but also very intelligent.
• The enemies in this universe would be genetically modified, mutated or mind controlled by Bowser (e.g Goomba's which are commonly Brown would controlled by Bowser & their original forms would be far more colorful & friendly than their Brown counterparts.)
• The Mushroom Kingdom & Peach would be introduced later in the story while some sections of the story, Bowser would be mentioned & actually be far more feared.
• The story would have a more straight forward plot, I don't want to go full out because this is my first time creating a story but also make it more family friendly but not afraid to dive into more darker topics.

And these are the Idea's I thought of for my universe, I understand it's not the most drastic reimaginings for my story but I want to start off simple & I want some suggestions on what I could also add to my universe & some questions I have.

1. What do you think the power up system should be, should it be a temporary amount of time before you lose it or should you only lose it if you get it with something hard (e.g Spinning Koopa Shell).
2. If I ever add Pauline to the main cast what should Pauline's characterization be, beyond Mario's love interst?

I'm not sure what to pick when it comes to choosing between State Trees or Behavior Trees & what's the best?

Because I thought of creating this game where you complete certain objectives but there is an invincible enemy that is trying to find & hunt you down, something similar to the functions of the Alien in Alien Isolation.

I don't know the pro's & con's of either.
