Ok hear me out.
I think we can all agree that transit in this city is horrendous. Rapid transit corridors are one thing, but this city needs to think outside the box a bit here. We are dreaming if we believe we will ever see light rail- ( I wish it were not true, but it is. We can’t even afford proper sewage treatment).
Why do we not have buses run commuter routes along the perimeter north- south., and east west, during rush hours? You could have buses that feed to the hubs along the perimeter (think mcphillips, route 90, portage ave, Roblin blvd, pembina hwy etc).
A 35 min bus ride with only two transfers to get from the north end to the south end is much more palatable than the current state (1.5 hrs).
And yes- I recognize winter would be an issue, however now that we “proactively” close the perimeter, well we would have to deal with those few days each year.
