[SCAM] Won a Catawiki auction but haven't paid yet. Will they still try to charge the buyer's fee if I cancel?
Hey everyone,
Long story short: I just won an auction on Catawiki from an EU pro seller, but I haven't paid anything yet.
Right after winning, I realized the brand (Techno Tempo) is essentially an Alibaba dropshipping scam. They artificially inflate their retail prices so Catawiki "experts" estimate a €110 watch at €1,500+.

Same watch on Alibaba (Brand can custom color) : https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Most-Popular-Products-LOBINNI-18010-Relogio_62504918432.html
To make it even more obvious, the official TechnoTempo website shares the exact same company registration number (CS-192859) as the Catawiki seller ("WatchStore"), who seems to exclusively sell brand-new TechnoTempo watches...
I immediately used my EU 14-day right of withdrawal to cancel the order. Legally, under EU Directive 2011/83/EU (Article 15), using the right of withdrawal on the main purchase automatically cancels any ancillary contracts—like platform fees—at no cost to the consumer.
My question for anyone who has dealt with this: since the law is on my side and I haven't paid yet, will Catawiki just drop it, or will they still try to come after me for their buyer's fee? What are the chances I get out of this without paying a single cent?
Thanks!
