I tend to like things I make myself, I like knowing exactly what’s in it and how it’ll taste and feel, especially with pies, I hate how creamy bakery pies are and they add things like onion and peas sometimes and I end up having a bit of a meltdown over a pie so I learned how to make my own and make the mince the normal texture

I hate store bought pizza but I would eat my grandfather’s (who I called pop) pizza but then he died and I don’t know what his recipe is so until I’ve found his specific recipe I’m not eating pizza, I do have his cookbook so I’ll have to go looking

I am terrified of restaurant foods, I was on a ferry, half drunk and triple dosed on anxiety medication (that tasted like scotch, yum) and I ordered a burger to soak up some of that alcohol so I didn’t go stumbling around a rocking boat and hurt myself but the patty had bits of who the fuck knows what so I could only eat the chips, but I was really nervous about the boat so I didn’t have a big appetite anyway so I gave it to my dad and stumbled my way to the bathroom and got scared by the toilet, lol

Those are just a few of many examples, but I prefer my homemade meals rather than store bought/takeout meals because I can control what’s in it

But I’ve also heard of others with ARFID who only eat fast food/store bought foods/takeout and stuff like that so I kinda want to know if I’m an outlier, if there’s a mix of both, or if I’m the majority but the others are move vocal

My dad and stepmum are getting married, they’re having a small family and friends wedding, I’m my dad’s best man (woman in this situation) and I am terrified about the food, my family loves food and I can’t eat most foods that they eat, I had hopes that they would have at least one of my safe foods because they’re at EVERY family event ever (including Christmas and sporting events and birthdays, dad even had them at his first wedding) but then my dad told me “we’re not having cheerios” (mini frankfurters, my safe food)

So I have NO idea if I’ll even be able to eat with everyone else (which is gross to eat around other but I can deal with it for one night, go to the bathroom and throw up if I need to) and then that brings up the awkward questions “why aren’t you eating?” “Don’t you like anything?” “Why are you being so picky?” (I hate it when people call me picky, it annoys me)

Has anyone here been to a wedding before? How did you deal with the food side of things?

Duke (the dog) had his head on the pillow and I showed my family a video of this person basically tucking his dog in from this sub and then my sister decided to put her blanket on Duke, he was there for a long time until I was putting my burger together for dinner and he came over for the cheese tax because he smelt cheese

My dad is getting married to my step mum and I am my dad’s groomsman (woman in my case) and all I was told is it’s in December and I’m wearing purple because that’s my favourite colour and dad + step-mum thought it would be nice to have their daughters wearing their favourite colours, I’ve got a little stepsister who is wearing pink and is the bridesmaid or something like that

The first dress is my absolute favourite, but I don’t know if that or any other ones are wedding appropriate

I have never been to a wedding before so I just searched for things that I think would suit me or things that I like the look of, I’m very bottom heavy, my thighs especially, skirts are like 12-14 (NZ sizes) but pants are 16-18 and compared to my hips and thighs my waist is teeny and my bust is just average, I’m not that fussed about it, but I know that fit and flare, a line, and wrap dresses would suit me best, I think I’m a pear shaped body of something like that

But enough about how I look, are ANY of these okay for a wedding? I’ve got no idea what the theme is, I know it’s in December which is summer in New Zealand where we live/where the wedding is, I think it’s small like an only close family and friends type thing and I don’t even know what to search for inspiration/reference pictures because grooms maid isn’t a common thing and when I have searched for female groomsmen I’ve just seen women in suits, and I don’t wanna wear a suit and my dad also doesn’t want me to wear a suit

HELP!! 😭😭 this sucks! (I am quite young btw and I don’t really understand social stuff so please be nice)

Also sorry if the photos kinda suck, I was just taking photos of my MacBook screen with my phone

I hate putting sprinkles on my ice cream, the soft ice cream mixed with the hard sprinkles makes my skin crawl, I don’t like it on baked goods either for the same reason, but I would happily eat a handful of them on their own (not really because it would be too sweet but I mean texture wise)

I have no idea what outfits they originally came in and the last one I kind of just put in there because I was a kid when I got her and I remember thinking it’s my doll’s little sister so I thought it might be a mini our generation doll, but I’m not sure, I got them all around 2019-2021 I think, I’m not quite sure though

Like the title says, I have ARFID and my family are all foodies

The weekend sucks sometimes because they’re all like “let’s go to a cafe!” And they drag me along with them and I’m always anxious about what they have, if I’ll be able to eat and drink what they have, and also if I’ll be okay with the smells around me, I once walked into a cafe and almost gagged because it RANKED of coffee and sausage rolls

The kids menu in any place is usually my best friend because kids meals are always pretty simple and safe, but lots of places don’t let me order off of it anymore because I’m over the age of 12 and in New Zealand that’s the cut off age for the kids menu, so if I’m at a restaurant or pub I either have to order 2 snacks (usually garlic bread and fries) or I’ll get something and ask to take like 6 things off

I do love going out for drinks and stuff because drinks are easy, I’ll just ask my dad “hey dad, can I have a *drink name* please?” And go to the table but when food is involved it’s so hard, it makes me anxious, it’s not a fun time

My little sister is 9, I’m older than her and I’ve got really severe ARFID but I’ve heard about binge from content creators I watch online and I’ve stared to wonder if my sister has binge or if she just has a big appetite

Today we went out for lunch and she said she was full, but then continued eating, “food comas” are a very frequent thing with her, she had 3 in one day once, it was a few hours before a concert and we were at a ramen place (I got sushi and bought it in while the others had ramen) and she got very full, said her stomach hurts (also a very frequent thing she says) and 5 minutes later she started eating again, then she basically rushed to the bathroom, idk what she did in there but she didn’t say she threw up so idk, she’s also very food focused, like she’s constantly saying she’s hungry, constantly wanting to eat, wants more food after she’s eaten too, could this be binge? Or does she just have a big appetite?

I can’t stand it when people say this, I don’t even remember what it was last time, I think it was about onion being mixed into my nacho mince but people always say this bullshit to me and then say “no you can’t” when I say I can taste and feel the onion inside the mince no matter how well you think you’ve hidden it

It’s to the point where I have dug into my bowl of mince and put the onion in a little corner of shame where I pushed the mince away from in the bowl so it’s just a little pile of onion just so I don’t have another argument about food

My dad doesn’t care what I do as long as I eat so he’s just started letting me cook my own meals, but every time I visit my mother I’m in constant dread about what she’s cooked for me because she’s a “I’ll eat anything” person and she hates that I’m not that type of person and she’ll do everything in her power to try make be be one of those people to the point where I have had full meltdowns at the dinner table over a food that was making me feel nauseous and horrible, I hate eating at my mum’s house

My dog Duke is 9, he’s got the healthiest hips the vet has ever seen in a GSD, we used to live out in the country and walks would be about 2 hours and both me and him would be exhausted, I once almost passed out outside my house on a really hot day because I couldn’t bring a drink with me and he was panting a lot too

Now we’ve moved to a completely new area into a town house and I’ve been walking him around the block where I basically circle around the same route for a few laps before going back into the house but I’m kind of worried that this is too short of a walk for him

Also our old walks were on a trail where I biked and he was off the lead and only went on if a person was coming towards us where these walks are both of us walking with him always on a lead because we’re walking on the footpath near houses

I have a big food issues, I’ve cried in restaurants before, now I order 2 sides instead of a main when out to relive the stress, I have like 5 different meals I rotate through during the week for dinner and I have had basically the same lunch almost everyday for 10 years, I probably have ARFID but I don’t have the money to get formally tested right now

I can’t eat spaghetti because it reminds me of worms and it makes me think I’m eating worms and it makes me feel sick and want to throw up while eating, but I can eat ramen noodles because they don’t make me think of worms

The only way I can kind of explain it is that spaghetti is slippery and lose while ramen is less slippery and more structured

This confuses my dad because he doesn’t really understand what I find difficult between the two noodle types

Does my logic make sense?

I was straightening my hair and thought my pigtail looked like Misa’s from death note so I took a photo of it, but then I noticed my eyes were pointing 2 different directions which doesn’t usually happen, my dad has noticed my eyes do something similar and he asked me if I have a lazy eye, I do have an uncle with a lazy eye, could that be it? Or is this something completely normal that I shouldn’t worry about? Or is this another problem that isn’t a lazy eye?
