I'm considering upgrading from Proton Persona a year from now. But I'm torn between emas 7 EV and emas 7 phev. Reason for upgrading is need a bigger car for family but also need a car that can save on daily commute expenses. Planning to upgrade for good (one car for all purpose + no plan for further upgrade). For this purpose, emas 7 (both version) fits nicely on my budget and needs.
I daily commute around 100km total daily for work and will long distance journey 5-6 times a year, mostly to Terengganu (~500 km one way).
I'm initially drawn towards emas 7 phev due to anxiety-less experience between daily commute and long distance.
However, when considering the hassle free maintenance schedule and maintenance cost of an EV, I'm drawn towards EV.
But after further deliberation, i might save more on long trips per year on phev, (Simple estimate got me saving rm 250 per year on phev) and when considering this, the difference in maintenance cost over 10 years might not be too significant (rm 300-500 differences per year roughly estimated). I might be wrong here since i haven't have the time to calculate the service cost difference in detail.
I calculated that on phev I will have to send the car for maintenance for 2-3 times a year vs 1-2 times for EV making this point also insignificant as they are both massive improvement over 3-4 times a year with my persona.
Now I really can't decide which is better for me.
Is there anything else I should consider between these 2? Are there any angles that I haven't considered for deciding which car is better for me?
Any other pros and cons of both ev and phev I should know before I decide?
