Hi everyone, I’m new here. I’ve had 4 English Springer Spaniels, my last one passed almost 2 years ago. 17 days ago I adopted what I was told wasa 7 year old English Springer/Setter mix. After driving 5 hours to get home we pulled the paperwork and her vet records say Pyrenees mix. The bottom line is she’s had 3 episodes of barking ferociously and growling while on leash walking the neighborhood, at an aisle in Pet Smart and towards my friend’s Mini Aussie with both off leash in my backyard. I later realized that I bungled the 3-3-3 rescue rule and did put her in situations that she wasn’t comfortable with.
So….. I have been researching training for her and wanted to ask the group if any of you have had similar behaviors and what kind of training works best for this. Otherwise she is a very sweet tail wagger, gentle and kinda velcro. She doesn’t like toys and won’t fetch. I adopted her from a Humane Society shelter where she was placed by her owner’s caregivers due to his illness. I do understand she is adjusting to alot of changes but I was told she was dog friendly and I am very concerned. TIA
