Song (rock?) from maybe the 90's/00's, I wanna say it's a male singer, but I could be wrong. (See recording)

So I heard a song that reminded me of this one, and I can't for the life of me remember what it is. Please excuse the shitty recording, it's the only thing I had on hand at my shop lol. I feel it maybe has ascending chords to accompany the melody? Or maybe an ascending/descending chord trio. I only remember this section of melody, not sure how many times it repeats.

Edit: wait actually, it's possible the song is from the show Lucifer, during one of the later seasons I think. In which case it would be more of a modern dramatic song.

I'm trying to think of this movie that I would have watched sometime in the 00's. I remember that it took place on what I believe to be a submarine, or at least some sort of underwater location. I feel like it was VERY deep in the ocean, because I believe that one of the plot points is that they cant surface. The computer starts communicating with a member of the crew, and I think he keeps it a secret?

I believe weird things start happening that relate to the communication. It has a similar vibe to the movie Sunshine (2007) in my brain. Or at least I watched them around the same time. I'll try to think of more details but that's all I've got for now.
