I accidentally threw out my hard drive that had years of photos, videos, and memories on it, and I’ve been having a really hard time processing it. It feels like I lost a huge part of my life all at once, especially because so many of those moments were never backed up.
I know there’s nothing I can do to get it back at this point, but I’m struggling with the guilt of knowing it happened because of a mistake I made. For people who’ve gone through something similar, losing photos, important files, or sentimental memories, how did you cope with it mentally? How did you stop blaming yourself and move forward?
I’m also trying to see this as maybe an opportunity to be more present and start fresh, but right now it still just hurts a lot.
