Ive been on universal since September and I found a job in February but was unfairly fired from my job in March and they paid me £2.5k in March, which I assume was to avoid any legal repercussions. Most of that money went straight to helping my family and paying off debts.
I’m still on Universal Credit while job searching. I got £0 in April, which I understood because of the March payment. But it’s now May, I haven’t had any income since March, and UC has paid me £0 again. I only have a couple of pounds left and I don’t know how I’m supposed to get through the month.
I’m already repaying a UC advance, so I don’t know if I can get a hardship payment or if they can correct the assessment period. Why is March income still affecting me now, and what can I do?
Any advice would really help. I’m in England.
