Situation: I buy a used car from a friend that is leaving the country. I have no plates and he no longer needs his plates. I already have an insurance and the car is newly "testet/geprüft".

I tried to understand the information on the "Strassenverkehrsamt" website but failed. Normal process would be that I send the car documents in and after some time i get my own plates. But as far as I understand it, we would not be able to use the car in this time. I can not even really drive it home? Is there a way to take over the car including the plates and simply change the owner with the "Strassenverkehrsamt"?
