I’m sure a lot of you have ran into this as it’s a pretty common thing that believing Mormons will say when presented with contradictory evidence or facts relating to the faith. They may even agree it is concerning themselves but will ultimately say that they have “way too many spiritual experiences to deny the church” or something along those lines. Even Joseph smith in my own opinion didn’t start out wanting to deceive people. I believe he probably was genuinely fascinated about religion and his salvation which led him to have some type of profound spiritual experience. I think that whatever happened, he probably got to a point as he’d built up a following and everyone thought he was so wonderful where he truly believed he saw god and Jesus even if he didn’t. Anyways, my point is how can you tell someone without completely discrediting their feelings or experiences that have had profound impact on their life that they weren’t necessarily from god or mean that the church is true?
